Terms and Conditions

Welcome to OnTheWall! By participating in our photography competitions, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully before submitting your work.

1. Eligibility

1.1 Participants must be at least 18 years old or have parental/guardian consent.
1.2 The competition is open to photographers of all skill levels and backgrounds, subject to any restrictions stated in the competition details.
1.3 Employees of OnTheWall and their immediate families are not eligible to participate.

2. Submission Guidelines

2.1 All entries must adhere to the theme and requirements specified for the competition.
2.2 Participants may submit up to 1, 3, 6 or 12 photos per entry package, depending on the product purchased (e.g., "Up to 3 Photos" or "Up to 6 Photos").
2.3 Submitted photos must be original work created by the participant and must not infringe on any copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights.
2.4 File specifications:

  • Format: JPEG or PNG

  • Resolution: Minimum 300 DPI

  • File Size: Maximum 25 MB per photo
    2.5 By submitting, participants agree to OnTheWall’s right to use their work for promotional purposes as outlined in Section 6.

3. Entry Fees

3.1 Entry fees are non-refundable.
3.2 Fees must be paid in full before submissions are accepted.
3.3 Entry prices are as follows:

  • £10 for up to 1 photo

  • £20 for up to 3 photos

  • £30 for up to 6 photos

  • £45 for up to 12 photos

4. Judging Process

4.1 Submissions will be judged by an expert.
4.2 The Judge(s) will evaluate entries based on creativity, technical excellence, and relevance to the theme.
4.3 Decisions by the judging panel are final and binding.

5. Prizes

5.1 Prizes for each competition include:

  • 1st Prize: £700 cash award

  • 2nd Prize: £300 cash award

  • Top 5 Winners from each competition: Inclusion in a live exhibition showcasing their submitted work.

  • 5.2 Winners will receive 60% of the profits from any sales of their exhibited prints. A 40% fee will be deducted to cover printing, framing, and exhibition costs. Any prints that are not sold at the exhibition will be sold on our website, with the same 60% profit for the photographer and 40% deduction.

  • 5.3 Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for alternatives.

6. Intellectual Property and Usage Rights

6.1 Participants retain full ownership of their submitted work.
6.2 By submitting, participants grant OnTheWall a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use their work for promotional purposes, including but not limited to:

  • Marketing campaigns

  • Social media posts

  • Exhibition promotion
    6.3 OnTheWall will always credit the photographer when their work is used.

7. Exhibitions

7.1 The exhibitions will showcase the top 5 winners from each of the preceding competitions.
7.2 Participants are responsible for ensuring submitted files meet the resolution and quality requirements for print.
7.3 OnTheWall will handle the printing of exhibited work, subject to agreed specifications.

8. Disqualification

8.1 OnTheWall reserves the right to disqualify submissions that:

  • Violate the competition theme or submission guidelines.

  • Contain offensive, discriminatory, or inappropriate content.

  • Are suspected of plagiarism or copyright infringement.

9. Liability

9.1 OnTheWall is not responsible for:

  •  Technical failures outside of OnTheWall’s control, including but not limited to internet connection issues, user-side device malfunctions, or disruptions caused by third-party services (e.g.,payment gateways).

  • Loss, corruption, or damage to submitted files resulting from upload errors, compatibility issues, or external platform failures.

  • Any disputes arising from the use of third-party services, including payment processors and file-sharing platforms.

9.2 OnTheWall’s Responsibility for Technical Issues:
OnTheWall is responsible for ensuring that its website and submission platform are operational during the competition period. However, in the event of unexpected website downtime or technical failures on OnTheWall’s end, participants will be notified, and reasonable steps will be taken to resolve the issue.

9.3 Participant Responsibilities:

  • Participants must ensure their files are submitted correctly before the deadline and should keep backup copies of their work.

  • In case of technical difficulties, participants should report the issue before the submission deadline so that OnTheWall can assist if possible.

9.4 Indemnification:
Participants agree to indemnify, defend, and hold OnTheWall harmless from any claims, damages, or losses arising from their participation in the competition, except in cases where OnTheWall has been found responsible for a direct technical failure.

10. Refund Policy

10.1 Entry fees are non-refundable, except in the event of a technical error caused by OnTheWall.

11. Privacy

11.1 OnTheWall will collect and process personal information in accordance with our [Privacy Policy].
11.2 Participants' information will only be used for competition-related purposes and will not be shared with third parties without consent.

12. Amendments

12.1 OnTheWall reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes will be communicated via the website and apply to future competitions.

13. Governing Law

13.1 These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
13.2 Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in the U.K.
